The majority of contemporary codecs are optimized for systems with multi-core processors. As a result, Intel V8 platform again shows unprecedented performance. Although we would like to add that in some cases, such as encoding with Xvid codec, the advantage of the eight-core system over a quad-core one with Core 2 Extreme processor is not that tremendous any more.
