Frankly speaking, we didn’t even hope that Pentium D processors would win here. K8 architecture proves much more efficient in tasks of this kind than Intel’s NetBurst. As a result, the youngest Athlon 64 X2 manages to show better performance than even the Pentium D processor overclocked to 4.0GHz (in FarCry, for instance).
Even if we disregard outstanding cases like that, Pentium D will not look any better in all other games. This processor family is much slower than Athlon 64 X2 from the same price range.
