General Performance

We tested the general performance in office and digital content creation applications with the help of SYSMark 2004 SE benchmarking suite, which also uses multi-threading very actively.

During digital content creation dual-core AMD processors show their best. The youngest Athlon 64 X2 easily outperforms Pentium D 930 (not to mention Pentium D 920, of course), and Athlon 64 FX-60 doesn’t yield to the competitors overclocked to 4.0GHz.

However, in the office tasks the situation is completely different. Athlon 64 X2 3800+ gets defeated even by the youngest Intel Pentium D 920 processor working at 2.8GHz frequency. And the Pentium D CPU overclocked to 4.0GHz leaves Athlon 64 FX-60 more than 6% behind.
