Some times ago Intel has announced the new generation CPUs for high performance and high sophisticated PCs. This is Haswell-E. Thanks to it a performance-hungry enthusiasts get the new processor microarchitecture, DDR4 support and eight cores in one chip. Also the platform and processor socket are changing. We take a look at all these essential transformations.
The Devil’s Canyon processors unveiled this summer push the performance bar to a new level for the LGA1150 platform. What's more, Intel says packaging optimizations make the Core i7-4790K and Core i5-4690K a real treat for overclockers.
LGA 1150 desktop processors lineup divides not only by families with different performance classes. They have some other grading – by projected power dissipation. Ordinary desktop processors have the most spreading, but there are many models with S and T letters in name which have artificially lowered TDP. Two examples of such CPUs we have reviewed.
Intel has updated the list of their Haswell processors. Instead of the old parts it will be offer a new – with slightly increased model numbers and higher frequencies. Does this change deserve our attention? We have tried to understand in this review.
AMD decided to refocus its energy-efficient Kabini processors to desktop segment and came up with a new Socket AM1 platform, allowing to build PCs with very low price. But can Kabini APUs fight the Intels Bay Trail-D and energy efficient Celerons?
AMD Kaveri has united four x86 Steamroller cores and GCN-based Radeon R7 graphics core. It has manufactured by 28-nm process technology and supports HSA specification. AMD believes that due to this cocktail it has an outstanding product, able to compete with Core i5. But according to the results of the tests we have a different opinion.
The development of the new processor microarchitectures goes on and frequencies of contemporary types of DDR3 SDRAM grow as well. Is there any sense in using high-speed memory with modern Haswell processors? To answer this question, we have analyzed DDR3 frequency and timings influence on LGA 1150 platform performance.
AMD roadmap tells us about the company had finished evolution of Socket AM3+ platform and FX processors. Vishera CPUs based on Piledriver microarchitecture is the last CPUs for this platform. We have tested the last additions in this lineup: eight-core FX-9370 and FX-9590 with monstrous TDP.
This guide is targeted to clear and simplify optimal settings searching when you to be faced with Haswell processors and LGA 1150 mainboards from different manufacturers. We will tell about optimal BIOS configuration for CPU nominal and overclocked modes.
A lot of CPUs for LGA 1150 platform are available now. You can buy not only quad-core Core i7 and Core i5 but also less expensive dual-core Core i3-4340, Core i3-4330 or Core i3-4130. In our next review we have tested these models based on contemporary Intel Haswell microarchitecture.
Intel had refreshed their long-life LGA 2011 platform and had released new 22-nm Ivy Bridge-E processors instead of old Sandy Bridge-E. But we have doubt about the new CPUs can breathe new life into old high-priced enthusiast platform. Read our review!
Let’s meet the entire lineup of fourth generation desktop Core i5 processors based on the new Intel Haswell microarchitecture in our new extensive performance review.
Today we are going to compare current graphics cores available in the new desktop processors for Socket FM2 and LGA 1150 platforms. In our today’s test session we will have AMD Radeon HD 8670D, HD 8670D, HD 8570D, HD 8570D and HD 8470D from A10, A8 and A6 processors of the Richland family and Intel HD Graphics 4600 from Core i5 processors of the Haswell generation.
AMD refreshed the lineup of their Socket FM2 processors. We tested an entire lineup of new models with Richland design including A10-6800K, A10-6700, A86600K, A8-6500 and A6-6400K, and compared them against competitors on Ivy Bridge and Haswell.
AMD decided to refresh their Socket FM2 platform and release a new generation of hybrid processors for it based on Richland design. This is exactly the one that earned the “Elite Performance APU Platform” title in the mobile segment.
After a very long and anxious wait we can finally take a close look at one of the fourth generation Core processors for desktops, which is based on the new Haswell microarchitecture. Significantly higher performance, better energy-efficiency, excellent overclocking – all this isn’t the case. What happened?
By combining their energy-efficient Celeron 847 processor with an NM70 chipset Intel created a new desktop platform for SFF PC, which may easily push Atom and Brazos of the pedestal. Our today’s test session will show if the new product with Core microarchitecture is capable of competing against specialty energy-efficient and inexpensive processors.
Inexpensive hybrid processors become better and faster. Which one should be your today’s choice? Should you go for an AMD A10, A8, A6 or A4, or prefer an Intel Core i3, Pentium or Celeron? We carried out an extensive test session of Socket FM2 and LGA 1155 platforms with integrated graphics and are ready to answer this question for you once and for all.
Intel Core i7-3960X has been the fastest processors for high-performance desktop systems for an entire year. But time has come for it to step down: today Intel offers Core i7-3970X Extreme Edition. Although the newcomer is hardly any different from its predecessor, we decided to subject it to detailed features and performance testing in our lab.
The launch of Socket AM3+ processors with Piledriver microarchitecture inspired many AMD fans. However, until recently we only based our opinion on the results obtained from the top model in the new AMD FX family. Today we are going to make up for this omission and carry out a detailed performance analysis of all Vishera processors with eight, six and four cores.
