X-bit labs CeBIT 2005 Coverage: Day 3 (page 4)Category: Editorial by Anton Shilov [ 03/14/2005 | 06:00 AM ] TwinMOS Shows Off DDR2 733MHz ProductsTwinMOS is among well-known memory makers who manufacture products for enthusiasts and overclockers who tend to squeeze all the juices out of their PCs. The company controls a fair share of the market, but is not among those who always have eyes on them. At CeBIT 2005 the firm is showcasing its extreme speed DDR and DDR2 SDRAM DIMMs at 600MHz and 733MHz speed-bins respectively. DDR memory clocked at 600MHz is currently available from only a number of manufacturers: A-Data, GSKILL and OCZ Technology. This is the first time we see DDR2 733MHz showcase, though. Still, this is hardly a huge breakthrough: Patriot Memory has been commercially shipping 700MHz capable DDR2 memory modules for a number of weeks now. Overclockers are likely to adopt the high-speed DDR2 memory in the second half of the year when Intel and mainboard makers deliver the new platforms based on 945P/G and 955X chipsets that officially support DDR2 667MHz memory. Given that 733MHz – or the so-called PC2-5900 – is only a slight overclock from 667MHz, it may be expected that leading makers of memory modules will introduce DDR2 memory clocked at even higher speeds. <%BANNER[banner_468x30]%>
