Club 3D Shows Off What ATI Does Not: RADEON X700 PRO for AGP

Club 3D, whose primary business is graphics cards, continues to become more and more significant in the European market: last year it sold 1.1 million graphics cards. About 70% of the company’s graphics cards are based on ATI RADEON visual processing units, 30% of the products have NVIDIA GeForce onboard.

At CeBIT 2005 Club 3D demonstrates ATI RADEON X700 PRO graphics card for AGP 8x systems designed with ATI’s Rialto bridge that translates PCI Express signals into AGP signals. The graphics card work at default speeds – 425MHz/864MHz for core and memory respectively – and is equipped with 256MB of memory.

ATI Technologies itself was not too enthusiastic about AGP version of the RADEON X700-series products when it introduced the Rialto chip a week before. Furthermore, another well-known graphics card maker asked not to take pictures and publish the information about its RADEON X700 PRO version for AGP 8x.

It is unclear whether ATI actually provided reference design for AGP graphics cards based on the RADEON X700-series of processors. Pricing of the RADEON X700 PRO for AGP 8x is also unclear.
