The Chronicles of Riddick
Using per-pixel lighting, normal maps and realistic stencil shadows, this shooter runs faster on the GeForce 6/7 architecture which excellently works with shadows as you know. That is why NVIDIA based cards triumph over their ATI rivals here. The only exception is the GeForce 6800 – RADEON X800 XL pair: the higher performance of the (more expensive) RADEON counterbalances the architectural advantages of the GeForce. SLI technology acts up here: the two GeForce 7800 GTX perform just superbly, but the SLI configurations on GeForce 6800 Ultra/GT and 6600 GT don’t enjoy any big advantage over the corresponding single cards.
It’s all roughly the same in the “eye candy” mode, except that the RADEON X800 XL is noticeably faster than the GeForce 6800, while the RADEON X700 is ahead of the GeForce 6600. In the other product classes NVIDIA solutions are still superior to their respective opponents from ATI Technologies.
