As you can see, the peaks of 20,000 and 25,000 points are conquered by NVIDIA based solutions – the SLI configurations on two GeForce 6800 Ultra and GeForce 7800 GTX, respectively. The SLI platform with two GeForce 6800 cards got more than 15,000 points, outperforming the RADEON X850 XT Platinum Edition. The graphics cards from the GeForce 6 and 7 families are overall faster in 3DMark03 than the RADEON X850/X800/X700 series cards. Not surprising as three out of four game tests from this benchmarking suite are technically better suited for the GeForce 6/7 architecture.

NVIDIA GeForce6 solutions enjoy a bigger advantage over RADEON family of the same class as the resolution grows up. It’s normal because the first test is based on DirectX 7 and fixed T&L functions, and graphics processors from NVIDIA are generally most efficient in such applications.

The GeForce 6/7 cards are less successful in the “eye candy” mode: the GeForce 7800 GTX and the senior SLI configurations are still on top, but the GeForce 6800 Ultra, for example, can only compete with the RADEON X800 XL. The GeForce 6600 GT is once again saved by its high frequencies.
