The fourth test features version 2.0 pixel and vertex shaders and a highest math1ematical load. The GeForce 7800 GTX still holds its leadership, but the gap between it and the RADEON X850 XT Platinum Edition shrinks to less than 10% in 1600x1200. The SLI configurations are of course the fastest, but they are the most expensive solutions as well. In the rest of the product categories, the RADEON cards look better than the corresponding GeForce cards.

In the “eye candy” mode the GeForce 6800 family isn’t that much worse than the RADEON X850/X800 series. Thus, the overall performance scores in 3DMark03 are quite correct: the GeForce 6/7 architecture performs better in three tests out of four and is just a little worse in the fourth test. Moreover, SLI technology works smoothly in this benchmark, everywhere ensuring a huge performance boost.
