Performance in Simulators

F1 2010

The regular Radeon HD 6870 only falls behind the GeForce GTX 560 Ti at 1600x900 in this game. When overclocked to GPU and memory frequencies of 1 and 5 GHz, respectively, the ASUS can outperform its opponent at every resolution. It is also but slightly slower than the Radeon HD 6950. Since it is very easy to overclock, the ASUS HD 6870 DirectCU looks preferable to us.

Performance in Strategies

BattleForge

The overclocked frequencies help the ASUS overtake the Radeon HD 6950, even at 2560x1600, but Nvidia’s solutions are unrivalled in this game, enjoying a huge advantage in terms of bottom speed.

StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty

The overclocked ASUS HD 6870 DirectCU feels good at resolutions up to 1920x1080, enjoying an 11-12% lead over the GeForce GTX 560 Ti and being as fast as the Radeon HD 6950. But when it comes to 2560x1600, the ASUS slows down to the level of its main opponent from the Nvidia camp. The overclocked HD 6870 DirectCU has a higher bottom speed, 19 against 16 fps, but both numbers are below the playability limit of 25 fps.
