  • NVIDIA GeForce FX 5950 Ultra. This the leader among NVIDIA’s graphics processors. Expensive and fast graphics card based on this GPU is as fast as top-end ATI based solutions in contemporary games, but gives in when it comes to applications actively using DirectX9 pixel shaders.
  • NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900. This is a better-value product working at a lower GPU and graphics memory frequency and featuring twice as little graphics memory onboard: only 128MB. It doesn’t yield that much to GeForce FX 5950 Ultra in performance, but costs notably less. It could be a great purchase in the expensive graphics cards sector, if it were not for such competitors as RADEON 9800 and RADEON 9800 PRO alongside with the arrival of even less expensive GeForce FX 5900 XT.
  • NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 XT. This is a cheaper version of GeForce FX 5900 equipped with the same amount of graphics memory, but working at lower clock frequencies: the GPU frequency is a little bit lower, while the graphics memory frequency is considerably lower. Despite the much lower graphics memory frequency, NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 XT is just a little bit slower than GeForce FX 5900, but sells at a much more attractive price.
Overclocking allows pushing the frequencies of GeForce FX 5900 XT up to the level of NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 or even higher than that with the corresponding performance gain, of course.
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 XT based graphics cards are an optimal choice in their price category: RADEON 9600 XT and NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 Ultra cost about the same or just a little less. And if the first one is faster than GeForce FX 5900 XT in some cases, then the second one is slower than NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 XT in all applications with no exceptions.
  • NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 Ultra. This is the top NVIDIA solution in the mainstream sector. In our today’s test session this graphics card appeared about the same or a bit slower than ATI RADEON 9600 XT that is why the latter seems to be a more attractive purchase so far. However, the appearance of GeForce FX 5900 XT turned out even more dangerous for the 5700 Ultra, because the graphics cards based on GeForce FX 5900 XT cost about the same or slightly more, but show better performance in all gaming tests.

Anyway, I hope this article would be of help to you, guys when buying a graphics card. Good luck!
