ATI Radeon HD 4550, one of the junior solutions in the latest Radeon lineup, boasts pretty attractive features: it supports DirectX 10.1, advanced second generation Avivo HD video processor, hardware video streams acceleration, 7.1 sound over HDMI, and consumes very little power. But this is all the promises from the developers. In our turn, we are going to find out if Radeon HD 4550 is really as good for playing new gaming titles and functioning as part of HTPC system for playing back Blu-ray movies.
Third-Person 3D Shooters
Dead Space
Dead Space has modest system requirements and runs fast even on inexpensive graphics cards, but the Radeon HD 4550 is not the case. It only yields an average speed of 20fps, which is not enough to enjoy the gloomy atmosphere of the game fully.
Tomb Raider: Legend

The Radeon HD 4550 is over 50% slower than the GeForce 9500 GT. And while the latter can be used to play this game with occasional slowdowns due to the low bottom speed, the Radeon is no good at all as its average speed is only as high as 20fps.
