3Dc Impact, Eye Candy Mode

We also explored whether there are performance gains in eye candy mode with 3Dc/normal map compression enablement.





The situation with eye candy mode is the same as without antialiasing and anisotropic filtering: 3Dc gets ATI some speed boost on the “Research” level and pretty much flat benefit in other cases. The situation when RADEON X800’s minimal fps is lower than that of comparable GeForce 6800, but the average fps is higher repeats here as well. The reason for that is unclear.
