NVIDIA has released high-performance high-margin GeForce 7800 GT and GTX graphics processors which offer advanced functionality and performance sufficient for majority of games. But there are people who would not like to pay $449 or $599 per graphics card and there is Holiday season coming, when all the users go on and spend their money. NVIDIA introduced its GeForce 6800 GS product which costs $249 and frequently manages to leave behind the GeForce 6800 GT in order to offer probably the best “bang for the buck” in 2005.

The GeForce 6800 GS is on the same level of performance with the RADEON X800 XL in the “pure speed” mode. The device from ATI Technologies looks better at the “eye candy” settings thanks to its more efficient memory controller. The GeForce 6800 GT is noticeably slower than the GeForce 6800 GS in the “eye candy” mode.

This is a rather CPU-dependent test, so all the graphics cards have similar speeds here. Only the RADEON X800 XL stands out – it lacks only 120 points to notch a score of 6,000.
