Unreal Tournament 2004

It’s more difficult to compare the GeForce 6600 GT with the “oldies” in this game since Unreal Tournament 2004 has a liking towards the AMD platform we tested the GeForce 5950 Ultra and RADEON 9800 XT on. All the cards hit the ceiling as set by the central processor of the system, but this ceiling is somewhat higher with the AMD Athlon 64 3400+ CPU than with the 3.6GHz Prescott-core Intel Pentium 4.

In the eye candy mode the above-mentioned ceiling only presses down on the cards in 1024x768 resolution. In other display modes the GeForce 6600 GT is somewhat better than the old-generation cards, despite its 128-bit memory bus.

It’s different on the Metallurgy level: the level itself is simpler, and the performance ceiling is higher, so the GeForce 6800 GT is the only graphics card to reach it (in 1024x768 resolution – along with the RADEON 9800 XT and GeForce FX 5950 Ultra). The GeForce 6600 GT has good fps rates since 1280x1024 resolution.

The new GPU feels all right in the eye candy mode, too, outperforming all its competitors despite its narrow 128-bit memory bus.
