IL-2 Sturmovik: Aces in the Sky

The new version of IL-2 Sturmovik got improved graphics, particularly support of pixel shaders version 2.0. When enabled, it renders the water surfaces with more realism. We set up the game for the maximum image quality level to put the biggest load on the graphics cards.




Note: minimal fps are marked with white numbers on the diagrams, black numbers represent average fps.

The results – the RADEON X800 XT is 1.5 to 2 times faster than the GeForce 6800 Ultra – are simply astonishing. Even the 12-pipelined RADEON X800 Pro outperforms the flagship of the GeForce 6800 series. The game must be employing all the advantages of the new architecture from ATI: fast execution of pixel shaders, high frequencies of the RADEON X800, fast and efficient memory.

The victory of the RADEON X800 XT is less impressive as in the first test mode, but this card still remains an unrivalled leader with enabled FSAA and AF.
