We have already reviewed new Radeon HD graphics architecture before, but at that time we only took a closer look at the top Radeon HD 2900 XT model, while more mainstream solutions didn’t get covered because they were scheduled to start selling a little later. Finally, mass Radeon HD saw the light of day and today we are going to check out one of them: Radeon HD 2600 XT.
Supreme Commander

The Radeon HD 2600 XT has a speed of only 17fps at 1280x1024, which is lower even than the speed of the GeForce 8600 GT. We should make allowances for the enabled 4x multisampling, though. Since the RV630 has only one raster processor, disabling FSAA may bring about a considerable performance gain, but it can hardly be as high as to allows playing Supreme Commander at 1280x1024 and the highest level of detail.
