If we take a look at VIA’s position in the today’s market, we might be a little disappointed. First the company lost the Pentium 4 chipset market, because of the licensing conflict with Intel. Then they didn’t perform very successfully in the Athlon chipset market and yielded to NVIDIA with their faster nForce2 chipset. Besides, the CPU market has never been VIA’s major...
However, there is one market segment, where VIA uses all its experience and technology to offer the users a really interesting solution, which doesn’t have many competitors so far. I am talking about the EPIA platform. These are very small, I would even say, tiny platforms which can serve as a basis for a PC. And the performance doesn’t matter here that much: it is small dimensions and low heat dissipation that are the major goals of the company. This is exactly where VIA’s chipsets and processors start surprising the public. a combination like that is called EPIA and is selling pretty well lately. maybe it is because there are simply no alternatives from other manufacturers yet, but so far, VIA EPIA is beyond any competition.
Today we are going to tell you about a new creature of VIA’s miniaturization initiative – VIA EPIA M10000 platform.

The CD-disk, which we put next to the mainboard on purpose, allows evaluating the size of this baby adequately. I should say that this comparative picture looks very impressive.
