Performance in Simulators

Colin McRae Rally 2005

Thanks to their high graphics core frequency, the RADEON X850 XT and XT Platinum Edition manage to leave the GeForce 7800 GTX behind in low resolutions, but the latter regains its top place in higher display modes. The GeForce 6600 GT outperforms the RADEON X700 PRO because of the high GPU frequency, too.

The “eye candy” mode brings interesting results: the RADEON X850 XT and XT Platinum Edition are ahead of the GeForce 7800 GTX in all resolutions, except 1600x1200 where they have identical speeds. The most interesting thing, however, is that the GeForce 6600 GT based SLI platform almost overtakes the same GeForce 7800 GTX. It is another confirmation of the fact that the ability of the graphics processor to quickly execute relatively simple pixel shaders is the crucial factor that determines the speed of this auto simulator.
