Perimeter

The GeForce 7800 GTX takes the first place in the lowest resolution, but the RADEON X850 XT Platinum Edition gets very close to it in 1280x1024 and wins 1600x1200 resolution. The RADEON X850 XT successfully challenges the GeForce 6800 Ultra, but the RADEON X800 XL has a lower speed than the GeForce 6800 GT even though the former has a higher GPU frequency. The GeForce 6600 also passes this test well.

The RADEON X850/X800 cards usually shows their best in FSAA + anisotropic filtering modes, but it’s all upside down this time around: the GeForce 6/7 cards feel the more confident as a higher resolution is enabled. The only exception is the GeForce 6600 – its 300MHz frequency is too low for today. Note also that 1024x768 resolution alone is playable in the “eye candy” mode and only on such cards as the senior GeForce 6 models and the GeForce 7800 GTX.
