Age of Empires 3 uses SM3.0 special effects, supports HDR and seems to be just the application for the Radeon X1000 to show its best in, but we’ve got nothing like that in practice, at least as concerns the Radeon X1800 XT which is far inferior to the GeForce 7 cards. Featuring more pixel shader processors, the Radeon X1900 XTX is on the same level with the GeForce 7800 GTX in the “pure speed” and better in the “eye candy” test mode. The GeForce 7800 GTX 512 remains unbeaten, though. There must be something wrong with the game engine, similar to what we’ve seen in Serious Sam 2 . <%BANNER[banner_468x30]%>
