Rubbish. Nvidia 6800 is clearly bandwidth limited even at the current clock speeds. That's why Nvidia only included 8 color blend ROPs out of 16. Having only half the pipes doing blending is completely masked by the low memory bandwidth. Fillrate & bandwidth are still king. We're not ALU limited yet, esp when dealing with 1600x1200+ & AF/AA...
