Perhaps you didn't notice that the X700 is not an MR9800?

And Mobility 9700 isn't a Radeon 9600XT, yeah right.

And you really think that ati would spent their time developing/manufacturing a 4 vertex chip and a 6 vertex version of the chip, just for the fun?
And a 8 pipeline with 6 vertex for what? Unless this is a R420 with half of the pipelines disabled.

Well, precisely. Don't you think it would make more sense to produce this chip than to bridge the MR9800 to PCIe, "just for fun," as that would obviously be the only difference between the X700 and MR9800? What's the point in that?
