"It is unclear why reference GeForce 6800 graphics card provided by NVIDIA Corp. and used by X-bit labs’ laboratory in Tallinn, Estonia, scored identical fps in Xbitmark and 3DMark03 vertex shader..."

Err, what does this have to do with what Toms writes?

Anyway, am I the only one who wondered about this headline and the immediadely following text?
"NVIDIA: No News on GeForce 6800 Vertex Pipelines
NVIDIA Confirms Lower Amount of Geometry Processors on 6800 Chip"
There's no news, and yet they got confirmation from NVidia? :P

This is ridiculous! I remember that when the first specs for the cards were released, it was patently clear that the 6800 non-ultra had 5 Vertex pipes. This has NEVER been an issue. There are still some mid-July 'reviews' which even say this!
