Hmmm... another confusion. I want to play d3 so would love to get this Leadtek A400 but also in some of the games i wanna play, the X800 XT is way superior. It's a tough choice in this generation, there is no clear winner. Last time around, the 9800 XT was a very clear winner and i liked that, this is not so with the 6800U and X800XT changing leads many times...

guess i shud wait for R520 and NV50 ;)

This is the third review I've seen that states that the card ships at 425/1100 Mhz default clock speeds. THIS IS WRONG!!! The card ships at the DEFAULT STOCK 6800 Ultra speed (400 Mhz for the core). This review like the others is inaccurate and portrays a misleading view of the cards default performance. Granted, it could probably overclock easily to 425 Mhz on the core but it DOES NOT ship that way.

Here's the Leadtek site with the specs, and before you ask yes I did buy the card so I should know.

Why is Lock on still a benchmark, the game itself is not so graphicly impressive, and not even the explosions and effects save it from looking a bit dated, the only reason I can see the newer cards failing on it(without screenies that are massivly differant then public ones), is that the engine is poorly optimized.

"[A400] deserving to be called the fastest Doom III graphics option ever tested by X-bit labs."

Well, I'd suggest to test the Gainward CoolFX 2600 if you want to see some REAL performance -- guranteed overclock to 450/1200, I didn't even bother to test clock speeds beyond that.. :)

Very nice test tho !

The DVI port problem is real, not just a defective card you reviewed.

The bottom port on mine (closest to slot) will only handle 1280x1024 @ 60 hz to 19" LCD. Increase to 75hz = lines across screen.

Top port handles 1280x1024 @ 75hz fine.

Reason = If you remove heatsink and look, Leadtek have only included 1 x external Silicon Image TMDS transmitter. The other port must be an internal TMDS transmitter.
