Most comprehensive article I've read. Great! Takes a bit to get through it though. Excellent reference for later.

As for monitor safety and monitors "making you sick", you might consider the fact that there might be major differences between manufacturers. My example:

* I used a Sanyo (1993) TV that would make me feel sick after just 3-4 hours of watching. It was reproducible over many years, so I am pretty sure who the culprit was

* Now I use a Philips computer CRT monitor (1999) and even 10 hours of non-stop coding does not produce any trace of ill effect

Thank you for the article. I plan to upgrade to upgrade to LCD right now

I think reviewing some PVA,MVA and other monitors as examples would have been a good idea as well. Overall a very good article. Now i am going to buy VX 724. Muahahaha.

A great article, very informative and clear.
When I see the complexities and shortcomings of LCD screens it makes me wonder why everyone was in such a hurry to "junk" the CRTs and their manufacture. It must be the "cool", "sexy" look of them without much regard to performance and versatility.

This article is so good that it should be in PDF format for easier reading off-line.

Why is the article artbitrarily broken into 20 or so separate pages?

It's a lot easier to just keep scrolling down than to have to keep alternating between scrolling down a bit and clicking on the "Next page" link (and scrolling horizontally again because you use a fixed-width layout).

Excellent technical article. Clarifies many things and dispels much of the hype around manufacturer's specs. When I see all the forums where people argue over specs I shake my head.

I still prefer the MVA monitors - where I can view the screen on the desk while laying down on the floor - watching my son play video games. With the new cheaper LCD monitors using TFT, the moment I tilted my head a little bit below the monitor, all the picture and video became darken - just like my old laptop I had six or seven years ago. I can hardly find a 22" MVA monitor in the market today.
