use the 70.41s, they fix the HDR lag

We tend not to use beta drivers.

However it couldn't hurt to do one quick test and see if the improvment is worthwhile, and giving us a preview of what might be to come.

What could cause the minimum fps drop from 1.1 to 1.3 for X800 hardware? I cant see how implementing SM2.0b could do that, and you demonstrated that it's not a driver issue.... Hmmmm, strange... Maybe something has been done to slow it down (conspiracy?), it is after all a TWIMTBP game ;-)
Another note GI (Geometric Instancing) is not default on with ATI hardware, but it is on 6800.

Well, Geometry Instancing brings difference only if the "Sprites distant ratio" is set to 100. In case it is set and the GI is not activated, you'll get heavy slide show.

So, GI does not impact minimal fps in my perspective.

I'm a little confused. The article said 66.81 beta drivers are required for HDR to work. The latest official drivers I see on nvidia.com are 61.77's. But you just said you tend not to use beta drivers... so... does that mean you used 61.77's for all the non HDR tests?

NVIDIA's ForceWare drivers are officially distributed via nZone, an NVIDIA's web-site. More importantly, the web-site says those drivers are WHQL-certified, so, most probably they are shipping with add-in-boards and systems.

Oh... one more question that I forgot. Is SM3.0 being used with 61.77's and patch 1.3?

Ok ONE more comment... am I the only one who's noticed decreased image quality with the 66.81 drivers? Particularly in Counter-Strike: Source... and particularly on the map de_dust... and even more particularly in the "tunnel" on the floor...

#9, if you like the unreal/ugly light settings... looks neat, but just look at that shot of the moonlight

Why is the 6600gt faster with HDR than the 6800ultra or 6800gt?

In the first test with the Training level. The 6600gt is faster than any 6800 with HDR in the first 2 resolution tests..

There are also many different levels of HDR that can be used. An HDR setting of 2 has shown to be the fastest with a subjective effect on IQ.
