1. Another excellent article. :) Good job -- look forward to seeing the results of the new methodology in action! Hopefully this should galvanize some other sites towards the more rigorous and scientific methodology we're used to seeing at X-bit rather than simple qualitative judgments. I'd rather see results like yours than know whether or not a given PSU is available in three different colours. ;)

3. Very good article, especially a nice job on the automated testing rig, I hope to hear more as you get some good PSU roundups done, good explaination of switching PSU and power supplies in general.

One thing I didnt understand is the following from pg 6 and 9.

"Due to its high inductance, it lets high-frequency noise pass through."

I thought a high series inductance would have a higher impedance to high frequencies. Z = R + iwL. Can someone please explain this me? Everything else in the article made perfect sense but i cant get my head around this one.

There's are some errors which will be fixed in few days, and you point me to one of them. Correct text is "due to its high parasitic capacitance".

4. Hello,
In my experience of PC problems, it seems that the power supply is one of the weak link. Again, one blew out recently. I changed it. But now I try to see what I could do to save the old. I remember a little of my electronics and I have already spent hours on studying the different brokne power supply I have, so I start to have an idea on how it works. But after reading this artucle I have made a big jump forward in my knowledge.
So thanks a lot for this !

Methology Article~
Well,I've been working in electronics for nearly
fifty (50) years, and in all that time, I've never
read a more informative article.Seventeen pages (no less)! Like, thank you very much. I'll certainly revisit this site, and often.//RonR

13. Is there a way to get a AT power supply tested just to figure out if it has suffered a total failure without actually loading it to a board. I know the ATX supply's offer a ATX power tester which I have and it works great. JUst was wondering if a tester of that sorts exists for the AT power supply?

14. How about a simple output voltage pin out for the connection to the motherboard? I just bought a replacement power supply and now my mouse and keyboard fails to work. I suspect it is something with my replaced power supply, so I want to just check go/no go voltages.
