1. Given how AMD struggles to keep up the supply of chips as it is, I suspect that while the socket may exist for a while, much like pci-e graphics cards have been in the last 6 months, you'll be hard pressed to find any 'new' cpu to put into your 939 socket as of 2006. 939 will not support DDR2 and love it or hate it, that is what, again, you'll be "able to buy" more easily in 2006.
I don't think this press release takes away from they way AMD operates historically. I don't even have to recall far back. Just look at 940. When they bring a new socket the old ones fall by the wayside, if for nothing more than supply issues. [Posted by: Anemone | Date: 01/28/05]
