1. I don't get it. Which part describes how it was demonstrated? I just read still more spec's of this processor and nothing to prove that it was built.

2. Come on dude, you gotta read between the lines!

They're gonna demo it at International Solid State Circuits Conference, but they are initially releasing the specs to give everyone an overview of the technology.

I'm curious as to why home/consumer entertainment devices require a Real-time Operating System?
(A typical OS can provide soft realtime capability, but is totally unsuitable for hard realtime scenario, where the acceptable time response is critical).

OT: Linux isn't realtime, but it can be modified to suit realtime environment via latency patches (RTAI OR RTLinux). Its even been proven that this is more than sufficient for hard realtime applications. eg : X-35 JSF engine.

For realtime applications, PowerPC CPUs are better than x86s...BUT, its cheaper and more widely available to pick up an x86 setup...Oh well. :)

3. The title should be changed to : "IBM, Sony, Toshiba to Demonstrate Cell Processor." :)
