Celerons are complete dogs. Even if you would overclock them to somewhere over 3 GHz, an Athlon XP 1500+ can still beat it in most apps. Basically, you can take a Celeron's MHz number, divide it by 2 and you have the 'performance' it gives compared to AMD's rating system.

And AMD? All it can do against this little scam from Intel is to price its processors that carry the same model number as Celerons' MHz rating the same, while in practice, their speed would allow it to sell them at double its price.

So the fact that AMD's low-end processors are priced equivalent to their Celeron counterparts is not some sort of 'leg-up' for Intel. It's just all AMD can do against this deceptive scheme.
