1. I don't understand why web brosers wouldn't be multithreaded. In fact, I can't remember using a single threaded broser. Are windows brother single threaded? What a pity if this is the case.

2. "At the same time the launch of Athlon 64 X2 CPU family doesn’t interfere with the markets for all the already existing families: Athlon 64 FX, Athlon 64 and Sempron. All of them will stay in the market."
"I would like to specifically stress that Athlon 64 X2 processor family and Athlon 64 processor family have unified ratings system. It means that Athlon 64 processors with the ratings above 4000+ will never appear in the market." Well don’t you think there is some contradiction in these sentese? I don’t see why there should exist Athlon 4200+ and a Athlon X2 4200+ if you think they don’t interfere? Unless AMD know Intel can’t bring something faster than 4.0 GHz so it doesn’t need to release anything faster than 4000+? If FX57 is released, what it will happen to the FX55 (2.6GHz speed)? Unless we will see the FX57 and FX59 all at the same time. [Posted by: kaz | Date: 05/09/05]
3. Awesome!
But I expected this because of the microarchitecture - and the first DC Opteron reviews. [Posted by: Dresdenboy | Date: 05/09/05]
4. I wonder if AMD could do a 4 core processor with 128KB L2 cache and stay on the same transistor count. Some Cell copied idea...
One interesting thing I will want to see is the 512KB cache version vs the 1MB ones. [Posted by: lazy | Date: 05/09/05]
5. I don't know what you did wrong, but you DivX and Xvid scores are certainly off.
You're the only website I've seen so far with such low numbers for the X2 using that benchmark. [Posted by: Carfax | Date: 05/09/05]
6. Great review of a great product ;)
However, I'd like to stress that minor improvements might not only be caused by an improved memory controller. All Rev E K8 cores have the same improved memory controller. While it might be the reason for some gains, I'd rather say that some gains in single-threaded applications are caused by the fact that there is a second processor which can help managing OS ressources, OS backround tasks and driver overhead. Especially in the case of Far Cry, which showed an increase of 8fps, I'd believe that the second core helps to eliminate driver overhead. [Posted by: Starcraftfreak | Date: 05/09/05]
8. I thought nForce4 motherboards did better with Tras set as low as possible, not at 10.

9. The DivX and Xvid benchmark did not seem to be correct. Other website show a huge margin of increase using X2 processor, but this review show very little or still below a p4-660. Editor or anyone could you double check?

10. Agreed, something is not right with the DivX/Xvid bench.
(I liked how many folks read reviews from other sites as well.) [Posted by: 333 | Date: 05/10/05]
11. Thats a great chip.
But is the test fair ? Is it not like putting a single engine plane up against a dual engine plane. Obviously the dual engine plane would be quicker. Why did you not include test results from a dual processor board running two Xeons or something along those lines ? [Posted by: Mr T | Date: 05/10/05]
12. Intel Confirms "Second-Generation" Dual-Core Chips for Late 2006.!!!
how slutty is intel??? as soon as AMD has a better product, WHAM!!! intel comes on with the don't buy AMD but WAIT...' we will/might have something better in the future....' is it enought to have 80% of the market selling HELL-hot operating micro-processors?. [Posted by: queuetrip | Date: 05/10/05]
13. Can you explain what is the methodology of measuring power consumtion ? There are very strange values for Intel CPUs and that is the reason why I ask. No other site reports such high power consumtion values for this kind of CPUs.

14. The most miraclus thing here is how Intel would meet up with the performance of AMD on dual cores knowing that their architecture is not that favourable to heat decipation. All authentic evidences is proving that the dual core are less cooler compared to the single ones in their temprature terms. Now on Intel, the higher the clock speed on the single core chips the higher the heat decipation and now they are suggesting water cooling to PCs. What will then happen to the ones with dual core chips. I don't think there would be anything less than refrigration for the dual cores at 4GHz and above for Intel chips in dual cores.

There was Intel's Dual Core out there right now. Why you not include them into your review?

15. Where is Intel's Dual Core processors?? Pentium Extreme Edition and Pentium D?
this is not fair review! [Posted by: WarpNine | Date: 05/11/05]

17. Hmm....I can't see the Intel's Dual Core here.....why?

20. Great.
But how long till you can buy full systems at BestBuy, CompUSA, CircuitCity, etc? [Posted by: C.J. | Date: 06/20/05]
