1. I don't get it: Should you remove the old bracket from your AGP graphics card? But how can you? They are soldered to the card, aren't they?

 They are soldered very rarely. In most of the cases they can be removed.

2. NO they are NOT soldered. Just undo the bolts at the connectors, gently undo the bracket off the PCB.
