Why no comparison in benchmarks with the overclocked 3.0? It seems to me that's where the real competition is.

Picture of the mobo test setup clearly shows Corsair XMS ram. CPU-Z pic also identifies memory as Corsair 3200 ram. Yet the article gives props to OCZ PC3700 ram. What gives?

You say no Vcore adjustmens but CPU-Z shows Vcore of 1.712V. What's that? Everything above 1.6V is dangerous because of SNDS.

What does it mean you got P4 2.4C with VID of 1.55V ? Do you guys know the highest VID for this CPU is 1.525V and that 1.55V is only for frequencies higher than 2.8 GHz ?

My opinion - P4 2.4C is nothing special CPU, you only need fast and expensive memory and the results are not so great then. This article looks like payed by Intel.

Paid by Intel? Based on what? Do you really think its in Intel's best interests to have people overclocking their low end (and cheapest) processor rather than the their top of the line processor (with the premium they make on it)?

LOL... the guy above is up AMD's arse.

Get in the real world, AMD is old hat! They need the Athlon 64 and some decent chipsets for it. Even then I think it will be a couple of months before AMD can get it together and by that time we will have prescott :p

The 2.4C did not reach it's highest overclock. It could have gone higher but the motherboard was limiting it. I know this because the vcore adjustments did nothing to help the overclock, if it was the CPU as the limiting factor for the overclock then the vcore adjustments would have helped to increase the overclock, but they didn't. I think you should come back to this review with a mobo with better cooling and a VDD mod (or one that you know can do a higher FSB) and push this 2.4C to it's limit.

thanks for the nice and convincing review. it matches excactly with my/our experiences und meassurements with the p4 2,4c@3,3ghz on p4p800, as postet to german site www.forumbase.de during the last days. everyone who ist planing to have a new system in the near future should give above system a closer look. it is extremly good value for money.

Nice article! I just upped my 2.4C to 3.0 and it's working fine. I'm using an ABIT IS7-G with dual channel Corsair XMS PC3200C2 modules. Stock cooling fan. I'm waiting to stress test it until I get something more than the pathetic thermal pad intel includes between the HS and CPU. But so far it's solid!
