1. how about some overclocking benchmarks? the stock - clocked M is at a great disadvantage there.

5. This review don't use the lastest bios of the P4C800-E there voltage cpu and multiplier coefficient can be modified !
My best score is 2,7Ghz with a Pentium-M 755 (original 2Ghz) with no noise and low heat

I would consider that you did a bit too many benchmarks that use the weak components of the Pentium M, also you failed to note that it is an excellent overclocker and a 730 CPU can easily reach 2.8 Ghz on air, at those speeds the Pentium M blows everything away, also the Pentium M is does more work per clock cycle than even the A64, the dual cores arriving next year are going to be a bit of a letdown since they are no 64-bit capable, I wonder if it will just be a transition chipset and they will release new ones within those 9 months that follow, although I highly doubt it, and it seems Intel has dug a little hole for themselves there, although knowing Intel I am sure they will be able to overcome it, I think if they don't have a 64 bit mobile chipste at the release of Longhorn many will choose a Turion notebook instead, which I think that if you were in need of a notebook would be the most sensible thing to do, because the Turion is no slouch either, just it consumes a wee bit more power..

8. People, I really think the conclusion that the P-M is too slow for modern desktop systems is, well, misguided. The chip only seriously lacks when it comes to rendering (3D or media). But how many people do that regularly enough to be really hampered by a slower PM780t?
Performance, today, is a vastly overrated criterion. I think that it is almost impossible to buy a (well-configured) PC that is not fast enough for all but the most demanding applications, regardless of which speed your CPU has. I think the noise made by the PC is more important for most people and it should be as low as possible. It really is a shame that the Intels and the AMDs of this world have let it come this far (with their hot chips requiring loud cooling). Fortunately, they are bettering their lives.

I think the real disadvantage of the P-M is that it is (also due to the adapter) probably too expensive.

9. Great article, lots of info, but like others have said the article is botched by not including numbers from the overclocked pentium M. No kidding you wouldn't recommend it, 700$ for the flagship model... lets see the cheaper varients overclocked and then you can evaluate the value of this processor!

10. And what about a short message about support ct-479 adapter on another motherboard, such as Gigabyte, MSI and so on. I know, ASUS is guarantee support only for motherboards of ASUS, but everybody haven´t ASUS.

At the 780's price on a desktop machine, you'd really have to need its benefits, though oc'd it'd probably be a little wonder :)

By the time Yonah comes out - the wiser purchasers are going to be thinking nothing but 64bit imo. 64 bit is a "good idea" in 2005 purchases. By the time 2006 comes, and Vista becomes a visible on the horizon product, people "shouldn't" (haha because that's not everyone) be thinking anything but a 64 bit cpu. Yonah will be a great chip, but the timing of it when the world starts moving in large numbers to 64 bit, is going to be poor.

A dual core A64, with something solid like a Nforce mobile chipset would have a real opportunity in that market space, (Feb-Sep '06), if it were possible to have a good performing product. People would probably overall accept the slightly higher power consumption of various A64 options (not just Turion) but that's just my $.02. Since there is no Nforce 4 mobile version this could all be to Intel's advantage. We shall see.

And if Intel were to have a "transition" chipset capable of ugrading from Yonah to Merom (64 bit Yonah), they'd have been singing that song to everyone who would listen. So I don't even think speculation is worthwhile on that point. It isn't going to happen. So, you buy Yonah and when the real 64 bit wave hits (Vista) you watch it pass you by... Hmm, not sure that will make a lot of folks happy.

We'll see, no?

13. This is the 3rd article I've read on the PM chip and decided to do it myself. Asus lists 6 MB's that support the adapter and 2 of them are the 915 chipset which supports PCI-E and DDR ram.
I've searched the net to find either the P4GPL-X or P4GD1(preferred) but except for England( won't ship to the USA) France( I don't speak the language) and S.Africa( I won't send $$ to them) either is unavailable in the USA or Canada.
I have the 770 model( 2.13GHz) and the adapter( atacom is the cheapest I found, $45.00 shipped) also have a new P4P800-SE sitting here but want to do it project with the P4GD1.
Anyone have any leads to this MB?
