"The Athlon 64 FX-57 with its 2.8GHz frequency and support of SSE3 instructions is anyway slower than the senior Pentium 4 models with such codecs as Lame, Mainconcept, and DivX."

Well SSE3 instructions are almost all dependent of multithread (Hyperthreding), that’s why you don’t see no improvement on a single core AMD processor, but the Dualcore benefits from SS3 because is multithread.

Why do you think Pentium M does not have SSE3?

The Pentium M does not have SSE3 support because it is based on a completely different architecture than the Pentium 4. The Pentium 4 is a NetBurst chip and the Pentium M is a P6 chip, which is basically an enhanced version of the Pentium III with Quad Pumped Bus. There are also single core Pentium 4 chips with SSE3, so it’s not a requirement to have hyper threading or dual cores to use SSE3.

Ofcourse it isnt, what i am saying it only give performance benefit on HT or Dual core.

Well better then that, it has 27.4% More core frequency then the FX 51 which now exists as the Athlon 64 3700+, though it costs 313.4% of the Athlon 64 3700+ :)

30% higher freq, and, that translateZ to 30% fasta in games? hell naw! dat shit be 10-15% fasta at most

where da mudda fuggin progress at? fuggin, in 99 j00 could get a p3 that was 3x fasta than p1 from 97, now all j00 gettin is same ole recycled shit w/bumped up core freqs

The SSE3 instructions for Hyperthreading is designed for a single core SMT processor, not a dual-core processor. It maxes out the execution units of the Pentium4 processor. It is also evident if you look at the SSE3 instructions that the AMD processors lack.
