Would it be possible to compare the enclosures' performance with the performance of the hard drive used in the tests connected normally to an IDE channel? I think it would give a good baseline comparison.

I bought a ST Lab 3.5 external hdd enclosure usb 2.0 i tried intalling on my pc which has win 2000 its not working, on win xp also i tried its not working, the sytem says driver error unavble to dected usb device

I bought an ST-101 not long ago. The thing would not work on my computer even though I met all the required specs and followed all the instructions to the 'T'. The support from STLabs was appalling. They recommend that you install the harddrive in your PC and format it first (if I could do that then I wouldn't need an external enclosure). They didn't respond to any of my subsequent enquiries.

So my impression of STLabs is very bad and I don't recommend buying there products, unless you have money to burn.
