What a fantastic comparison! I think you were a bit harsh on the comparison between the 6600GTs in SLI versus any of the high end ATIs or the 6800 Ultra, since these cards can cost twice what you might pay for TWO 6600s - so equivalent performance for half the price seems bloody brilliant. Great review though. Thanks! Jon.
Just finished reading the conclusions (I wrote my previous comment before finishing the article).
I *totally* disagree with your conclusions: you are not comparing like with like, you should have compared 6600GTs with 256Mb (Leadtek make these also), with the 256Mb 6800s and X800/X850. You have correctly noted the limitation on available RAM means that you won't be able to run at 4xFSAA 16x anisotropic filtering at 1600x1280 (hmmm how many people actually run at this resolution/setting???). So for the price the 128Mb 6600GTs offer amazing performance at high settings and 1280x1024 (which most people will be using!).
You don't even mention the relevant price comparison for these cards - how can anyone make a judgement on the basis of this review!!
I have bought a 6600gt card here in germany. The fella as the store swore blind that he was running 2 6600gt's from different manufacturers. I found this fishy, to say the least. I will investigate this claim further today. If it is true, then I will get precise details of how this was done. If not, I'll smack him about for while.
