1. Jotenkin tuntuu järjettömältä tuollainen kellotaajuus nyt mutta jokusen vuoden päästä tollaset taajuudet on arkipäivää passiivijäähdytetyissä ranne kelloissa.

No mutta tätä harrastusta kuvaa hyvin sana enthusiasm. :)

2. Don't know what he ^^^ said. But all i have to say is ... Damn...

3. Jesus mother of god!!!!

Thats amazing. Now give us some 3dmark 01,03, and 05 benchs!!

4. Dang!

5. I'll translate my finnish mumble... "Clck rate like that seems insane now but after couple of years that cind ciend of frequensies are everyday for all the passive cooled mini computers in every family."

"but that's why this hobby is called enthusiasm"

anyone agree?

6. What's the point in breaking records if they perform like shit?
Could it be that they're breaking records for making the shittiest CPU's that consumes vast amounts of power while performing slower than a snail? =p

Like someone said in the Thread - Netburst is doing what it was it was intended to do. Intel just didn't figure out that the CPU would put out 150w~ with aircooling. Its not a "shitty" CPU by *any* means.

7. JESUS thats fast!!!

9. i dont get it

10. 18.516 must be wrong. My athlon 2400+ did
1 million places of PI using FASTPI in 4.4 secs.

Maybe the number should read 1.8516 secs.
That would be more in line with factors of
speed differences between my 2400 and
the P4 system.

SuperPI uses a much slower algorithm (Gauss-Legendre) than FastPi or QuickPi, which use Chudnovsky's.

I just used super pi, got 1m 02s running an intel P4 2.8ghz with 1.5gb RAM. Not overclocked. So i can believe the 18s record, its 3 times quicker, but his clock speed is is 3 times more than mine (roughly)

11. thats a beastly overclock, that gets me hott in my pants!
[Posted by: jclusin | Date: 08/13/05]

12. yeah whatever
[Posted by: nastynick | Date: 08/13/05]

13. Just one word -- WILD !! - I'm sure he would want to fry an egg on his CPU at those speeds (considering the amount of heat it would generate ;) )

14. WaW that is very good, i thought it was a joke at first moment ;]

15. warf !

windows can't work at 7Mhz !!

what about linux ?
[Posted by: martoni | Date: 08/13/05]
Linux can and works better with AMD instead INTEL
but not 64 bit.
I was talking about 32 bit CPU

16. So really, a "5Ghz" machine is doable and able to run XP/aps just fine with the proper cooling.

17. 4.18 Ghz P-M = 18.438s and there's a lot better chance of getting nearer that clock without liquid nitrogen ;-)
[Posted by: mas | Date: 08/13/05]
.. so the 7 Ghz P4 is NOT the world record holder.
[Posted by: mas | Date: 08/13/05]
sorry forgot the link originally
