"While it is known that the AMD Athlon 64 processors for Socket AM2 have “unofficial” support for DDR2 memory at 800MHz, it remains to be seen whether AMD will actually enable such a speed bin formally."

Where did you read that?
I have seen AMD documents about their new core and it says:
-2 Dimm Unofficial 933~1066Mhz DDR2
-4 Dimm Official DDR2 800
-8 Dimm Official DDR2 667

I don’t know about the memory timings, but I have 100% sure of this.

Intel's addendum to the spec is freely available.
