I wonder how the Core Duo would go against the 64 X2 on a pure clock-for-clock basis?

Check out the review for the AOpen Motherboard (using Core Duo CPUs) on Anandtech. On a clock-to-clock basis, the Core Duo ties/beats Athlon64s in practically every test.
they ran them overclocked through a range of frequencies: found a very definite pattern emerge.
