I doubt Intel is going to win back most consumers with Conroe or anything else. Yeah, they may win over the sheep who have no clue, but I doubt any of Intel's products will out-perform the equivalent AMD product.

I'm aware that Intel is hoping the media will hype their products and spread the Intel gospel, but reality has a strange way of proving Intel is a shame and their products inferior.

Where have you been the last months?
Even the NetBurst CPUs, the last CPUs on this world to ever do that, have already matched Athlons IN GAMING, their only fortress they have so what in the heck of this world makes you think AMD does even know what to do now?

Read TA152H´s post, he pretty much described how irreversably (spelling? not sure) screwed they are...

From looking at that review, I feel that AMD will lose to Conroe, AM2 hasn't been a big success so far, since it only has DDR2 memory support and nothing major. A miracle can happen and AM2 with DDR2 memory will show results far superior.

the results are great but results should also show the FX60 and the intel 965 overclocked 40% or at least clock for clock eg all at 3GHz

The Athlon FX-60 is running at 2.6Ghz, what happend if you overclock it to 3.0Ghz? yes, is quite simple, it will match the Core Duo on most of these benchmark, in others, Athlon will be superior to Core Duo.

You said that is quite difficult to get a 10% of overclock for the FX60 and I completely disagree with you, in fact, is quite easy to get the 3.0Ghz and with watercooling or any other exotic method, you could get more and more speed.

So the real topic (from my view point) is that Core Duo matches the Athlon64 performance (yes! finally! a few years later...intel gets it!) using a very big shared L2 cache and others new and advanced improvement (some of them, coming from next gen, aka Core 2 Duo). And that was all, the netburst arquitecture is over (finally!) and the thing will become blue when intel releases the Core 2 Duo, this CPU and not Core Duo, will be better than Athlon64, at least for the time being... let see the next movement of AMD...

Please, try to tell always the truth and do not bias the article....

Why is it that in F.E.A.R. an AMD x2 4800+ performs better then the Core Duo 3 GHz? In all other gaming benchmarks the Core Duo 3 GHz is faster then the FX-60.

The entire "Athlon 64 FX-60 works at the top of its frequency potential and is very unlikely to cope with even 10% frequency increase above the nominal. But even a 10% performance gain will not help Athlon 64 FX-60 to regain its leadership in games" statement is far to bold to make. At least show a 10% OC'ed FX-60 CPU in the benchmarks if you say something like this.

First off all, i'm buying AMD AM2 you know why? cause of intels size, and i dont care how much better the conroe is going to be, now you may call me an ignorant fanboy who has no brain, but it is actually because my brain is able to think better than you'res inferior one :P, what will happen if intel become the only one on the market?
1 they will release af 65Bit CPU because the need to sell a totally new CPU for twice the money.
2 you're not going to get a better CPU they just find a way to make you upgrade everytime the need money.
Then it is you who should be called ass-raped!

what will happen if you support AMD even though they have an inferior product ATM?
1 AMD will use the money to develope a new and competetive CPU, because they now very well that if they are to far behind to long they will loose costumers

prove me wrong ^o).. it's been seen before. Call me a fanboy because that is what i am, i might not be the day AMD gets to be the same "size" as intel ;).

and the P8 "conroe" is based on a Architecture older than the K7 (P6, or Pentium 3)

and for the test, i think it's ok, would like to see them compare equal clock CPU's

Intel will have the performance crown till '07, that's obvious.

That makes like 6 months after release (conroe). Yonah for desktops is too exotic and problematic now.

AMD has a nice chip cooking. The K8L architecture (Not K9, since K9 is basically dual core K8) will be released in early '07 (or maybe even late '06).

K8L is based off K8, but every bit seems to have been changed. From what I've read, it seems these chips is going to blow the current A64 away, and will be more than a worthy oponent to Core Duo 2, will probably take the performance crown again.

6 months in the performance lead is nothing. Intel was 2 years in the back of the pack, yet they didn't go broke. Most people think everyone in the world will go out and buy CD2 once it comes out (maybe OCers in the forums do, but that only makes

Nice stuff! Lack of asus products with simple open bios is unfortunate. The core line will no doubt accelerate gaming SFF platform. Look for the new core computer next month at warpedsystems dotnet.
