There has NEVER, EVER been an implication from Microsoft that DX10 would run in Windows XP, not even a hint. Why? Because DX10 requires a massive change in the underlying kernel and graphics driver model. DX10 _cannot_ run in Windows XP, no more than it could run on a Linux or Mac box.
