There's a massive need for this kind of processing for anyone who uses realtime audio effects to process CPU intense algorithms like reverbs and other DSP effects. People spend a lot of money on dedicated cards to alleviate this job and surrender more processing power to the actual application and I/O mechansisms than audio effects. This would be a very cheap way to accomplish this.
