Expand all threads | Collapse all threads

Xbit should have seen how low they could undervolt the standard 85 watt cpu. Chances are it would have been able to get pretty close to the 65 watt vcore versions, which would pretty much make it obvious that NO ONE should pay more for what is essentially a factory undervolted regular cpu.

One point that I missed in this whole article ... The AMDs are 90 nm technology while the Intel one's are already 65 nm. I expect some beter results by AMD when they start using the 65 nm technology.

Was Cool'n'Quiet disabled during all the tests, except the first idle test where it is mentioned? All four CPUs would probably have stayed at their lowest frequency while playing back a video. My Newcastle Athlon64 rarely goes above 1GHz for video playback.

Also, for those of us who run folding@home, etc., power numbers at full load but minimum frequency would be nice. Unfortunately, I've never seen this benchmarked anywhere.

Also, all these are dual core CPUs. I get the impression from the temp monitor showing one core at 39C and the other at 33C that only a single thread was run. Probably all the CPUs would use more power if a second thread was running.

Regarding the extra heat produced by the integrated memory controller, wouldn't an existing non-K8 system produce the extra heat at the Northbridge?

It would appear the truth of "energy efficiency" is actually the rhetoric of clever marketing publicity.

Low power CPU means low power usage. Mmm, kind of obvious really? :)

Hi there i have a 64 x2 4000+ brisbane core and i have managed to overclock stablely with no vcore adjustment from 2100 mhz too 2750 no prob on a asus m2npv vm board and goes great

MALA COMPARACION!!!
BAD COMPARATION!!!
