What about Direct X? If that is what the Win32 API wrapping is all about, then why not also have it run on Linux?

Cider is a new name, but Cedega is well known API wrapper for Linux. Commercial, "gaming" version of Wine if you like - just visit Transgaming's site... Maybe Cider is just an Cedega port for BSD-based systems, like OS-X (Linux cousin with fancy GUI).
