If u shop around u can find a Palit 7900gs with 512mb, for the same price or below other better known 256meg 7900gs. I got mine from scan.co.uk but overclockers.co.uk (ocuk geforce cards) do a similar deal £140ish. Very quiet and low power consumption plus extra 256meg means more to me than a few extra frames from the ati cards.. (this time :-) I've already clocked mine to 560/745 just using the massive stock cooler.. I will do more just havn't pushed it to the max yet :) Hope u found this useful.........

How hard does the power consumption go up on the 7900gs when you clock it that high? I think it would be interesting to see how much it consumes when you overclock it to match the x1950pro performance.

I am seeing everywhere the slow return to the old BIAS and favrotism for Nvidia.
It is Unfair to show overclocked results for the Nvidia card and not the Ati card. You are loading the dice to favor Nvidia plain and simple.
Either show both opverclocled or neither overclocked. PERIRD.

Why the hell didn't you show benchmarking results for Oblivion with HDR & AA? That's the reason to buy an ATI card, because the NVs can't do True HDR (floating point) with AA at all, only the Lost Coast fake stuff. Most of the games coming out now use the much better floating point method. So if you want true HDR, you need an AMD card or the DX10 NV.
Playing without AA is just unbelievably crappy. Like going back to the nineties. A lower resolution with high quality AA will always beat even a two-step higher resolution sans antialiasing.

I like the Radeon X1950 pro video card.
it is good for games like "unreal tournament"
"call of duty","flat out" and "drome racers".

Have both cards in different machines, I'm not loyal to anyone except my wallet and the performance that they provide. Both cards are good upper mid-range card that won't have you crying back to mommy for more $$$.
In some games the Nvidia shines but in most games the ATI flat out kicks as#.
Given the choice to replace one over the other I would have taken two X1950 Pro's.
My girl has the ATI in her machine and I find myself getting on her's for gaming most of the time.Having said that the Nvidia card still is a good board just not better :(

kind of funny how you overclocked the 7900gs but not the 1950 pro... you do the volt mod for either and it is a tight battle. but ati has the upper hand with aa hdr af crancked up leaves the 7900gs in the dust expecially the 512 version BOOYAHH!!

I had successfully overlocked my xfx xtreme 7900gs to 600, 1760 but it's still 4000 points from beating the other 7900gs cards in 3d mark 05. why?

I'm going to stick with the X1950's because of the price, all of amd/ati products seem to be a lot cheaper right now and even the motherboards for crossfire are cheaper than the SLI boards.
