1. Very weak, going to skip it.

Intel CPUs are for Intel MOBO.
Unless you are looking for SLI forget it.

The power consuming of NVIDIA chipsets is always too high, that explains, because they aren’t in mobile.
Buying Uli didn’t solve anything, maybe is too soon yet to see any difference.

2. I want photos. What is the third PCI-E slot for? Get with it xbit labs
[Posted by: Spyder | Date: 11/09/06]
The Third PCIe 8X Slot is for a Third video or Physics Card. When using a Third video Card you can either run a Monitor off it or slave it to the other video Cards for extra resorces.
A very nice touch to an awesome M-Board.

3. These are interesting results, because I have yet to see another review where this board could not hit 2000 MHz FSB. Everywhere else it seems that this chipset is an overclocker's dream.

Did you read the review?

"However, as of today we have to admit that Nvidia nForce 680i SLI based mainboards are a less efficient for processor overclocking than the solutions on Intel 975X Express and Intel P965 Express."

Overclocking dream? Where?!
[Posted by: Kaz | Date: 11/10/06]
HardOCP, Anandtech, and PCPerspective have all had much better OC results with this board. Yes, I did read the review, along with other reviews, and that is exactly why I found these results especially interesting.

4. on Anandtech they said its the best mobo for core2duo even in OCing so whats going on

5. Wrong CPU?
[Posted by: pplapeu | Date: 11/10/06]
That seems most likely. Some CPUs look like they're limiting the board somewhat, specifically the 4MB non extreme ones. The 2MB C2D's look like they give better results. Regardless, I'm still waiting to see what DFI can do with this chipset.

6. XBIT had their hands on this board for about 48 hours and ran the review regardless of their substandard testing methodology and the amount of time they actually spent "reviewing" this product.

In addition, their tests were completed with a BIOS revision that was about three weeks old and they did not bother to contact anyone at EVGA or NVIDIA to receive any updated BIOSes or information, even though this information was readily available to them at all times.

This is why the reviews on the other sites are much more thorough, and paint a much more accurate picture of what the board and chipset can actually achieve.

As for trusting the editorial on XBIT Labs, I would simply read other sites for more accurate reporting.

7. Nvidia scammers - just let intel do sli right! amazing they claim 600fsb but magically the fsb will go past 449 regardless of voltage - SCAMMERS! liars and cheats they should just claim 450 fsb. Amazing that the 500 series does the same thing at 301 fsb regardless of cooling and voltage. That's because its locked. When lower the temp of the chipset with a better cooler and increase the voltage the fsb should increase not with nvidia. OK - i am just POed since they will not let intel use sli but intel lets nvidia make chipsets.

8. Anandtech is so pro Nvidia, its not even funny. In all their review about Nvidia products, you can always feel a sense of bias like the review on the 680i where they actually claim as the best chipset for core2 and yet, they don't even bother to test the power consumption and all the enormous cooler it needs. xbitlabs is the only site I trust to get the most unbiased reviews period.

GREAT JOB XBIT!!!

9. Also if you go to overclocker forums like xtremesystems, they don't give a sh*t about the 680i because of the power consumption and cooling it needs. Anyways they are all waiting for ATI's RD600.

10. this chipset sux

11. This review is totally misleading the public, and cannot be trusted
Enough of that
The chart which compares between the chipests is totally junk, and biased
I give this review 0 out of ten for being biased and because of dishonesty

12. How do i measure a systems total power consumption? do i use a multimeter? i doubt softwear can do it? am i wrong? what do i need to read or learn to measure my system under full load like all these review sites do?

15. The article went on too long to explain the fact that the nForce 680i is a high end M-Board and not for the casual user.
Early models had their flaws but the newer Boards have cleared all that up. The only thing holding this M-Board back is other Hardware designs, 3rd Party software and drivers.
The only difference between this and the Asus Striker is personal choice.
M-Boards are so advanced now Days that to compare them is a moot point anymore.
When someone Benchmarks and downs another N-Board over 2.1fps or Ram transfer rates of .0003, they're nit picking big Time.
No one is going to notice this kind of difference and in the right conditions a savy Tech can make Benchmarks do whatever they want.
I look at Benchmarks like I look at Polls on TV, they really mean nothing in the real World.
If you want real world performance results out of the nForce 680i, check out my Blog:

18. Good document. PLease try to give the exact specifications of the Power supply requirement for the Motherbard. That would be helpfull
