1. Personally I feel these coolers are TOO large, too heavy and too expensive.
I just don't see any significant value in these coolers over smaller, more efficient coolers. Maybe if you have a flame throwing P4 and you're trying to get the last 3 Mhz overclock - for pure useless bragging rights, then maybe it's worth the cost and hassles to you but I suggest getting a life instead. Bragging rights and $5.00 will get you a $1.00 cup of coffee... Nice looking units, but I'll pass as they don't deliver anything of value to my PCs. [Posted by: Bornfree | Date: 12/11/06]
2. I was dissapointed with the zalman 9700, I expected it to beat the thermal take big typhoon considering its newer and prolly more expensive.

3. Nice test, but why leave out the Zalman 9500?
You tested the older model of the infinity but forgot the 9700's predecessor? [Posted by: AzErTy | Date: 12/12/06]
4. What your review shows is your choice of cooler should take account of your case airflow. If you've got a case with a big side fan like you did then a big typhoon is the best choice. If you've got a case with front->back airflow then the infinity and Zalman coolers reviewed here today will do better.
I have a Antec P180 which has airflow that would be rubbish for a big typhoon but is great for the scythe infinity or ninja. [Posted by: Dribble | Date: 12/12/06]
Thank you this is the type of conclusion I was looking for. I have a Zalman 9500 in my main system and am debating if I should upgrade the 9500 and use it on my second system or just use the stock fan on the second system. The review's conclusion Iwas also very helpful. It really begs the question about how much is to be gained by switching top of the line air coolers. Right now on my p180 under full load I average about 32C over room temperature for my 4800 939 dual core giving me a core 0 temp around 55c room 20 to 22c. [Posted by: Soc7 | Date: 02/22/07]
6. I have a Zalman CNPS9700 on a E6850, mobo GA-X38-DQ6. Bit of mucking about with installation re: CrazyCool behind the CPU but with some minor mods I got it all set up. I'm very happy with the performance of this cooler, and it's definitely worth it for the job it's doing.
