I have rewritten the paragraph on page 28, conclusions, to make sense to me...

You should also have a powerful CPU, enough system memory and a monitor that supports resolutions of 1600x1200 and higher.
A CPU that is older than a year will not allow the GeForce 8800 GTX to reveal its full potential in some games when you enable full-screen antialiasing.

Is that what the paragraph should state?.

Nice review. Finally a card from Nvidia that draws as much excitement as when the GF4 was first launched.

Can't wait to see how much more performance is available after the drivers mature a bit.

Excellent review. Good job on using HQ driver settings and having AA enabled in all benches. The minimum fps numbers are helpful too. This is by far better than the reviews of most other sites.

How do you correct a 49.9ohm resistor to 25.5ohm with an ordinary lead pencil?

Thanks guys,

Good job. However, there are some issues with performance.
When it comes to Quad Sli and Fear, I think that the hardware does not do what you asked it to do. Most probably, a driver bug. It is not possible for 8x AA to be faster than 4x AA.
There are also a lot of discreapncies with 1950XT and antialiasing. In some cases, like Quake, Prey, Tomb Raider 1920x1200 6x AA is faster than 4x. In Oblivion Indoor 6x is faster than 4x across all resolutions, while in Oblivion Outdoor 4x AA is much faster than no AA. Could you edit the figures?

This does not even count as a review without FLIGHT SIMULATOR x. The most graphically intensive game ever made.

Thanks XbitLabs so much for this awesome review! The delay of posting this review is very understandable, since you had to endure all of those problems with the 8800GTX.

It's a big plus for us to know about those problems, with a big thanks to you. Some of us do not want to bother with having some of those problems, let alone experiencing ALL of those problems like you did! Forget it, no thanks.. I already had enough trouble with my 7900GTX SLI setup--had to reinstall WinXP on a formatted drive and I don't feel like facing any more issues for a long while.

There's one thing--seeing how the 8800's 8x CSAA is pretty much equal to ATI's 6X FSAA in image quality, it would be nice to also include 8X CSAA performance numbers in those graphs. In some games, 8X CSAA performs so much better than 8X MSAA, making MSAA not worth it. But I guess you're tired of benchmarking for now after putting together this great review, right? LOL :)

Great review!

I own basically the same system as was used for these benchmarks, and I agree with results!! Can't wait for driver optimizations and SLI benchmark numbers!

When you mean powerful CPU, is the E6600 good enough with this monster?

Nice review, people!

However, one thing I'd be interested in is whether you will test the 8800GTS, I'd like to know how it compares to single card solutions with the GTX or a ATI x1950xtx, considering pricewise it is compareable to the ATI...

nice processor your using. not to mention the bottleneck the xfire x1950xtx is experiencing. what a biased review.

what did you expect? new gen against old gen. kissas nvidia fanboys
